The angles of shots are greatly used to convey what the mood is and the size and distance of the characters and surroundings.
For example, this scene is a Long (wide) shot, taken from just above with the table looking down towards 'other mother' Coraline and 'other dad' eating dinner together showing what caroline would like to be having with there real mother and father, all her favourite foods are neatly arranged around the table.
The scene is happy with all of caroline's favourite food in front of her with a milkshake dispensing chandelier above trio. Caroline is very happy in the scene with all of her favourite foods in front of her, the room is warmly lite with reds and whites It is warmly lit around the centre of the table but around the outside edges of the room is a bit darker lit. This was done to covey that the mood will shift drastically foreshadowing what is about to happen after this scene other mother offers to caroline the button eyes if she wants to stay.we see this in play in other scenes to show that something big is going to go on and that this is supposed to be a very dark and gloomy scene.
